5th Migration Forum 2007
"Building bridges or barriers? Exploring the dynamics between migration and development"
The Forum will aim at:
• Increasing awareness on the interaction between migration and development
• Creating a deeper understanding of the role of Caritas within the dynamics of migration & development perceived from an advocacy and practical work aspect
• Adapting and further developing Caritas advocacy based on the analysis of the interaction
The aims will be achieved by:
• Benefiting from the expertise of the Caritas network and partner organisations - exchanging information, knowledge and experience
• Panel debate with relevant stakeholders and workshops
• Analysis of the mutual impact of migration on development
• Presentation of best practices and projects in the ‘Marketplace’
The expected results of the Forum:
• Increased cooperation between migration and development departments
• Improved communication between the regions
• Clear advocacy messages
• A common and coherent policy on the topic within the Caritas Confederation
The Forum is open for participants from Member Organisations from all the regions of Caritas Internationalis in charge of migration and/or active in development work, as well as the partner organisations.
