Caritas Hungary

1. General activities of the organization:

Caritas Hungary is a Church organisation funded by the Hungarian Bishops’ Conference to assist people in need regardless of their sex, race, age or religion. It was after 40 years of break in official activities that Caritas Hungary could re-start its activities in 1990, gradually setting up social institutions and a national network of diocesan organisations.

The national centre is responsible for the coordination of the social aid-programmes organised by 13 diocesan caritas organisations, as well as managing national training programmes and international emergency relief programmes.

Caritas Hungary coordinates a network of counselling centres for addicts. The centres operate in eight cities nationwide – all follow the so-called psychosocial approach of counselling in addiction.
